The Music Run: MY Music Run

It was a dream for me to join a marathon. I became into running when I suddenly gained weight. When I started loving the activity, I also started to dream of joining a bigger run.

I planned so many times to register in a running event but for some reasons, it never happened.

And just before this year ends, I was able to tick this dream out of my “25 things to do before turning 25”. Thanks to my colleagues who share the same desire with me. We are jogging “bodies” and they invited me to this running event called “The Music Run”.

At first, I was hesitant to join simply because I find the location of the event too far. It’s at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. Yeah, BULACAN. For someone coming from the South, location is really a big factor in saying yes or no for an event specially if I’m going from South to North with a traffic like here in the Phil. But I guess, that this running event was really meant for me because when I dug into the details, there I read a “FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE” to and from the event. Yay! Hooray!!! This is really for me, so I said YES, YES, YES!!!

There were two types of runners, the STANDARD (950php) and the ROCKSTAR (1,250php). Both have great items in each pack but we registered as Rockstar which comes with exciting extras, as shown below.

Thanks to Ms. Rose in helping me and Ms. Kathy in our registration. :*

The Event Pack Collection happened in just three days at the Glorietta Event Area from Nov. 7-9. We wanted to claim our event packs on the first day to avoid the large number of crowd. Unfortunately, both Ms. Rose and I were not available during the first day of collection so we just asked Ms. Kathy to claim ours. I was worried at first because I thought they won’t allow other person to get your event pack but we’re thankful that TMR made it easy for us.They just asked for the tickets and confirmation email and voila! Ms. Kathy got all our event packs and we were very happy with the items! Another yay! for that! πŸ™‚

Counting the days and here we go! November 14 arrived! We’re so excited! Coming from Laguna during the APEC week (Yes! You’ve read that right! APEC WEEK) Imagine the horrible traffic Manila had. I am really really worried of my travel because I might get stuck on the road. I have to be at Trinoma by 12:30 p.m. to catch the first shuttle pick up so we don’t have to wait and fall in line long. Lucky enough, I was able to arrive at Trinoma right on time! Thanks to the driver of the bus who used the Skyway to avoid the traffic and to the MRT for not getting troubled while I’m on the ride. Like what I’ve said, this event was meant for me. Am I able to persuade you already? Nah? Then read on! hehe

As I said earlier, we wanted to arrive early to avoid a long queue of participants and the hassle of riding the service. But we were surprised that TMR provided plenty of buses that wait to be loaded with runners. Honestly, we expected it the other way around. haha Another yay TMR! πŸ™‚

The line may seem to be long but it was actually fast moving because there were many buses. πŸ™‚

Inside the bus sitting comfortably. hehe

Upon arriving at the Philippine Arena (It’s my first time in that place. I was not there during the #EBTamangPanahon hahaha) you’ll already see banners hanging along the side of the road which will give you an idea about the track of the event. We proceeded at the Philippine Sports Stadium where we were greeted by these really energetic hosts which overflows to the participants who were jumping and singing with cheerfulness and excitement for the event to start. The pre-party was heated up even more when Sponge Cola lead by Yael rocked up the stage. I laughed at myself when I started shouting, jumping and singing to their songs! I wasn’t a party-goer, fyi! hahahaha

The pre-party crowd.

Yael rockin’ up the stage with his band Sponge Cola.

After their performance, the hosts already geared up the runners for the event was about to start in 3….2….1…..

We were laughing with excitement when we started running because all the runners were enthusiastic and energetic enough that you have no choice to be like that as well. HahaΒ The reason why I said this running event was for me is that, I guess this time I’m gonna convince you, I am a music lover! Yeah! I love to sing. I even had a band during my college years. I can’t even remember a day at work that I’m not listening to music to boost up my productivity. So for a music lover, what’s more amazing than having your first legit running event with a music as part of it? Right?

There were 5 music zones, 1 km long each. The first zone was Rock, 2nd was Pop, 3rd Old School, 4th Hip Hop and 5th was Dance. The marks of each zones were these huge headphones that made us took a selfie every time we see them. hehe My favorite zone among the five was the Old school. It felt so nostalgic hearing songs from way back Elementary or Highschool days. Waaaah I feel so old! haha My favorite song from this zone was “Ooops, I did it again” of Britney Spears. I remembered all of us three were singing all together with the song and it was realllyyy an amazing feel. haaaay πŸ™‚

The first zone: ROCK

The second zone: POP

The third zone: OLD SCHOOL

The fourth zone: HIP HOP

The fifth and last zone: DANCE

One good thing about this event was that you’ll know that they really were concerned with the runners and that theyΒ wanted us to feel comfortable even while running. There were water stations, accessible comfort rooms and even photo booths along the track. Another yay! for that TMR. πŸ™‚

The Old School booth where Elvis and Michael patiently waiting for the runners to take photos with them. πŸ™‚

Since this was my first running event, I didn’t train. hahahaha I thought that 5km run was just an easy-peasy run since I’m doing jogging every week and “5km” soundsΒ so short for me to have a serious training. So during the event, I’m already feeling tired at the 2nd zone. haha easy-peasy run huh? Lol πŸ˜€ And when I’m at the 4th zone, I’m already asking myself “Malayo pba?” “Bakit parang hindi na ‘to 5km?”, I’m already catching my breath and I’m dead tired. Signs of aging? Lol. πŸ˜€

But the moment we saw that big headphone with “FINISH” on it, tiredness became happiness, feeling of achievement and relief. Waaaah We. Finished. The. Run. πŸ˜€ Β There at the finish line were staff of TMR who gives the medal to each finisher. I was so happy wearing my medal. I. Have. My. First. Running. Event. Medal. I was more than happy and proud of myself!

FINISH LINE!! We’re done! Yey! πŸ™‚

My finish-line-whole-body selfie. hihi

After we’ve finished the run, we then proceeded back at the Philippine Sports Stadium for an after-party event lead by these hosts whose energies seem endless! Imagine they’ve been heating up the stage since the pre-party, I even saw some of them running with the runners during the event, then back to the stage after to entertain the participants. That’s completely incredible! I guess they really do love what they’re doing to not get tired at all!

The after-party event. πŸ™‚

The hosts dancing around. πŸ˜€

The event was capped off by a fireworks display, manifesting how colorful the event had been.

Again, thank you TMR for making my first ever running event unforgettably awesome! This is really a running event worth joining for it makes the participants engage their body, mind and soul (for a music lover like me!) actively! πŸ™‚ Cheers to more years of running to come! Ciao! xoxo 😘😘😘

My very own medal. πŸ™‚

Ahhhh! This is pure love! I love the kit and I love the concept, but yeah, location always determines my decision. I want to join something like this too! Hopefully they do a Music Run here in Bicol. Nice article!

I should going to events like this. You seem enjoyed it. The crowd looks like they are having fun. It’s like a party for health conscious people.

Yeah. The participants were really cooperative and game partying! And because the sounds and hosts were really engaging. πŸ™‚ Try considering this one when you decided to join a run πŸ™‚

I have never been into any fun run in my entire life of existence haha but I would love to be part of it someday… i don’t think I am physically fit for this activity kasi but I might give it a shot kahit yung mga few Km run lang… it must be a very rewarding experience earning that medal

    • annmaziing says:

It is! Try mo πŸ™‚ You’re not required naman to run the entire km eh. You can walk when you feel like it and run when your already comfortable to run na. Sabi nga nila, you’ll never know unless you try. If di ka nga fit sa ganun activity, at least na-try mo na once and you already have a medal. hehe

I like the items in the RockStar Package, they are both useful and reliable. The last fun run I attended was the Pasig River Run in 2010. Yes, I know it’s been 6 years but I still maintained my fitness through lifting weights and HIIT cardio in the gym.

What a cool concept for a run! Rexona run kindof did the same thing as there’s also music everywhere but this is cool cos there are different genres per km mark. I might say it’s pretty expensive for a 5k run though XD Glad you enjoyed it! ;D
